When and where is NZ Pie Fest?

The inaugural NZ Pie Fest runs across the weekend of 15 to 17 January 2027 on Wellington's waterfront. Tickets are on sale now; the exact site and daily times are announced to every ticket holder closer to the date.

What's included in a ticket?

Entry for the day, one courtesy drink at the bar (an alcoholic option if you are 18 or over with ID, a soft drink otherwise), and a vote for the People's Pie. Inside, the festival sells $7.50 tasting tokens, one token gets you one bakery's signature pie, so you can taste as many as you like.

What happens after I pay online?

Card payments finish on Stripe's secure payment page, then you land straight back on your tickets. Each ticket and token has its own QR code, shown on screen right away and emailed to you from tickets@rimuandharbour.com. Day tickets scan once at the gate, tokens scan at the stalls.

Is it family-friendly? What about kids?

Absolutely, it's built to be a relaxed summer weekend out. Children under 5 enter free, they just need their own free ticket so we can count everyone safely. Everyone 5 and over needs a paid ticket. Kids don't need their own tasting tokens, share yours at the stall.

How do I pay at the festival?

Entry tickets are cheapest online in advance ($19.90); tickets on the door are $21, subject to capacity. Pies are bought with $7.50 tasting tokens, redeemed at the bakery stalls. Bring a card or a little cash for extra tokens and drinks; cash is accepted only at the festival office on site.

Can I get a refund or transfer my ticket?

We don't refund for a change of mind, but you can transfer your ticket to someone else at no charge. If we cancel the festival, everything you bought, tickets, tokens and fees, is refunded in full. Your rights under New Zealand consumer law always apply. Full details in the festival policies.

What if it rains?

This is an outdoor summer festival and it goes ahead rain or shine. January is Wellington's sunniest, driest stretch of the year. If we ever cancel a day for safety, that day is refunded under the cancellation policy.

Can I bring my dog?

Please leave pets at home. The site is packed with food stalls, hot ovens and big crowds, so for food safety and everyone's comfort no pets are allowed. Certified assistance dogs are always welcome by law, and our crew will help you find the best route around the site.

Is the site accessible?

Yes. The festival is on flat waterfront parkland with step-free routes, accessible toilets and an accessible viewing area. If you need a hand with anything on the day, any crew member or the info point will sort you out.

I run a bakery / brand / want to be a vendor, how do I join?

05 . Behind The Festival

A New Zealand venture,
built to go city by city.

NZ Pie Fest is built by Rimu & Harbour, a New Zealand company based in Wellington, and launches with Welly Pie Fest on the waterfront in January 2027.

The festival is led on the ground in New Zealand and built to grow city by city, New Zealand first, then further afield.
